Spotting rugs and honeypots
Mint authority, freeze authority, unlocked liquidity, and a dev wallet that is already selling.
Four checks before you care about the meme
- Mint authority. If it is still held, more supply can appear whenever the holder wants. Revoked is the boring answer you want.
- Freeze authority. If it is live, your tokens can be frozen and you will watch the chart without an exit.
- Liquidity. Burned or locked LP is harder to yank. A pool the deployer can pull is not a market, it is a prop.
- Holders. If the top wallets are a handful of fresh accounts, you are exit liquidity. Top-10 concentration above a third of supply deserves a hard look.
Dev wallet
Open the deployer on Solscan. If that wallet is selling into the first green candles, believe the wallet, not the Telegram.
Honeypots
A token you can buy and cannot sell is not a dip. Try a tiny sell, or read the tax and blacklist functions, before you size up. If the buy tax and sell tax do not match the marketing post, walk.
None of these checks make a coin safe. They only remove the obvious traps.
